Welcome to Nynäs manor & Nature reserve!
-discover an exciting piece of Swedish history, culture and nature

The Nynäs Estate and nature reserve is located on the swedish baltic coast, about 80 kms south of the capital Stockholm, right between the small hsitoric towns Trosa and Nyköping. This is in the province of Södermanland, a territory known for its large number of stately homes and manors. The estate also provides excellent hiking country, with several trails and small countryside roads. At the lakeside just behind the manorhouse is a charming Hostel -the former Estate Distillery! Se more facts below.

Since 1985 the Manorhouse is owned by the county council and the National art museum (Nationalmuseum). Nynäs Manor is considered one of the best preserved examples of a "Countryhouse" in this province, inhabited by influential members of the Swedish aristocracy from 1680 - 1984. One of the (in Sweden) rather famous owners was the Swedish minister of Finance 1856 - 1866, Baron Johan August Gripenstedt.

The interiors of the house reflects the ideals of Swedish interior decorating from the Baroque era, throughout the neoclassical period of the late 18 - early 19 centuries to the "eclecticism" (dominated by the neo-rococo style) during the later part of the 19 century. Due to continous restorations we are able to open up new parts of the house to the public from year to year.

The manorhouse is shown to th public by guided tours during the summerseason. See opening days below.
